Water oxidation is still one of the most important challenges to develop efficient artificial photosynthetic devices. In recent decades, development and study molecular complexes for water have allowed insight into principles governing catalytic activity mechanism as well establish ligand design guidelines improve performance. However, their durability long-term stability compromise performance molecular-based this context, heterogenization catalysts on electrode surfaces has emerged a promising approach long-lasting This review covers state art strategies onto electrodes (photo)electrochemical oxidation. An overview description main binding are provided explaining advantages each strategy scope. Moreover, selected examples discussed together with differences in between homogeneous heterogenized system when reported. Finally, common (photo)electrocatalytic summarized.

Molecular water-oxidation catalysts for photoelectrochemical cells.
Photoelectrochemical cells that efficiently split water into oxygen and hydrogen, "the fuel of the future", need to combine robust water oxidation catalysts at the anode (2H(2)O --> O(2) + 4H(+) + 4e(-)) with hydrogen reduction catalysts at the cathode (2H(+) + 2e(-)--> H(2)). Both sets of catalysts will, ideally, operate at low overpotentials and employ light-driven or light-assisted processes...

متن کاملHighly efficient and robust molecular ruthenium catalysts for water oxidation.
Water oxidation catalysts are essential components of light-driven water splitting systems, which could convert water to H(2) driven by solar radiation (H(2)O + hν → 1/2O(2) + H(2)). The oxidation of water (H(2)O → 1/2O(2) + 2H(+) + 2e(-)) provides protons and electrons for the production of dihydrogen (2H(+) + 2e(-) → H(2)), a clean-burning and high-capacity energy carrier. One of the obstacle...

Two new oxohalides Co4Se3O9Cl2 and Co3Se4O10Cl2 have been synthesized by solid state reactions. They crystallize in the orthorhombic space group Pnma and the monoclinic space group C2/m respectively. The crystal structure of the two compounds are made up of similar building blocks; Co4Se3O9Cl2 is made up of [CoO4Cl2], [CoO5Cl] and [SeO3] polyhedra and Co3Se4O10Cl2 is made up of [CoO4Cl2] and [S...
